INPAWS Is Changing Its Name

Henceforth, we’ll be known as the Indiana Native Plant Society (INPS).

In a survey of the membership initiated by president Mike Homoya last summer, there was overwhelming support for a name change. His reasons for recommending a change are outlined here, along with responses from the membership.

The INPAWS Board recommended and the Council agreed on the simpler name Indiana Native Plant Society, which avoids the suggestion that wildflowers and native plants are two entities, is consistent with similar groups around the country, and yields an acronym does not connote dogs and cats. The change will become official January 1, but you’ll see signs of it on the website and other communication vehicles as we engineer the transition.

Along with the new name, we’ll have a new web address, www.IndianaNativePlants.org, but for the time being, please continue to use www.inpaws.org.
