Northeast Chapter: Natives vs. Invasives Workshop, July 27

Is that plant a native? An invasive?

Natives vs. Invasives Workshop
Learning Center at Salomon Farm
817 W Dupont Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825
Saturday, July 27, 9 to noon

What does it mean to call something a native plant?  It’s easy to get confused about terminology when there are so many types of plants–natives, invasives, native cultivars, exotics, and many more.

Join members of the Northeast chapter of the Indiana Native Plant Society to learn the difference (and why it’s important to know) in a classroom and field setting. First, we’ll focus on natives with a talk and hike led by Martha Ferguson of Riverview Native Nursery.

Next up, an invasives presentation and hike led by Freya Berntson, where we’ll look for some of the bad guys. (We know they’re out there!) Make sure to dress for the weather.

This program is free but registration is required and space is limited. Registration deadline: July 22. To reserve your spot, you’ll need to call (260) 427-6000 or register online at fortwayneparks.org.
