What’s Bioscaping?? Learn All About It at AC2015

People are asking about the theme of our 2015 INPAWS Annual Conference–Bioscaping: Gardening for Life.

What’s bioscaping? It’s planning your landscape to include a smorgasbord of native plants to nourish the creatures at the bottom of the food chain. With native habitat fast disappearing, essential food sources have gone missing. The majority of insect larvae are specialist feeders–they have co-evolved with specific native plants on which they depend to provide sustenance. Where there are no native plants, there are no meaty insect larvae, thus no high-quality protein for baby birds, frogs, and salamanders to eat, disrupting the entire food chain. That’s the “bio” part.

The “scaping” part is all about creating gardens, making beautiful landscapes that we humans can enjoy. As a home gardener or landscaper, you can do both the bio and the scaping parts–AC2015 will show you how, with a dynamic lineup of presenters.

Speaker bios and program notes are posted, and online registration couldn’t be easier. Hope to see you November 14 at AC2015.
