Hike Bryan Memorial Nature Preserve May 3
Location: Bryan Memorial Nature Preserve, Clinton County
Directions: From Frankfort, take State Road 38 west, turn north on County Road 450 W to a marked parking lot on the right. Several trails traverse the preserve.
Cost: Free, but registration is required by May 2. Register for the hike

The Division of Nature Preserves is teaming up with some of our partner organizations and land trusts to hold a series of hikes on nature preserves. The partner for this hike is Indiana Native Plant & Wildflower Society.
Bryan Memorial Nature Preserve is a snapshot linking us to our past. An island of forest surrounded by a sea of cropland, Bryan Woods offers a view into what much of central Indiana looked like in earlier times. Impressive stands of oak, beech, basswood, and hickory are the highlights of this pre-settlement forest.
This hike under the cathedral forest canopy of Bryan Woods will also feature a riot of early blooming spring wildflowers, ferns, and bird song along the preserve trail. The diverse and colorful assemblage of expected wildflowers includes spicebush, trout lilies, Dutchman’s breeches, trilliums, toothwort, and spring beauty.
Join Division of Nature Preserves’ ecologist and botanist Roger Hedge for this hike through one of our premier nature preserves. The hike is on level terrain and walking is easy, but can be muddy in spring. So prepare accordingly with appropriate footwear. Bring binoculars if you have them. No restroom facilities.
