DNR Relaunches Field Days

This just in from Mike Homoya, our state botanist/plant ecologist:

Back in the 1980s, Indiana DNR’s Division of Nature Preserves used to host a state natural areas conference each year, including speakers and field trips to natural areas—all during a one day time span. For a variety of reasons the Division was unable to continue hosting the conference, but they’re resurrecting the event now in the form of a whole day of field trips, with options to select from as many as ten different sites. This year’s focus is on prairie landscapes.

So mark your calendars for the Division of Nature Preserves’ Prairie-Savanna Field Day! On Saturday, August 25, 2012, their staff will lead hikes at various nature preserves in the northwest region of Indiana. More info to come!
